Episode 46 explores how the human spirit because of all its magnificent qualities is able to overcome the magnitude of some family traumas. Your family is supposed to be a safe haven. The place where the problems of the ‘outside world’ don’t exist, right?  NOT! Ideally, yes that would be perfect but let’s face it, nothing is perfect. EVERY family has issues and often times is dysfunctional on some level. But when that level reaches a trauma state it’s devastating.

So the goal of today’s episode it to share with you how even when we are faced with the unbelievable challenges that come with a family trauma our human spirit is able to persevere and use the experience of that trauma to help others.

This episode was actually suggested to me by one of my listeners and I’m glad she did. It is allowing me to share not only her story but that of my cousin Dee Gillen as well. I am super grateful to them for allowing me to share their stories with all of you. Their family traumas reached a high level and while they are completely different, both of these amazing women share similar qualities that have helped them survive and find the courage to move forward in life.

“At it’s very core, personal development means that you decide your life. And that includes how outside actions of others and outside forces affect you and what your response to them will be.”

We will talk about :

  • How this episode came about
  • The devastating story of my friend
  • How she overcame her trauma
  • The devastating story of my cousin
  • How she has overcome her trauma
  • What these women have in common

My hope when you hear their stories is that you will feel inspired by them. That you will feel encouraged in your own life knowing that your human spirit when and if called upon can overcome some of the most challenging circumstances. These two women epitomize what personal development means. And if they can rise above their own pain and find ways to give back and help others then we all can 🙂

Please make sure to subscribe in Apple Podcasts or the player of your choice if you haven’t already so you never miss out on the fun. Have you or someone you know had to overcome a family trauma? Please share that with us as you never know who you may inspire. Together we will be the changes and differences we want to see in the world.  If you think someone else could benefit from learning about personal development, feel free to share this with them. I look forward to connecting with you next week!
